The unexpected discovery occurred when a local diving enthusiast was exploring the waters near a beach along the Volga River. During his dive, he came across a submerged car, as reported by the Daily Mail. He promptly alerted the authorities, who retrieved the vehicle the following day.
Inside the car, officials found the remains of Ilya and Kira, along with their personal belongings, including identification documents that confirmed their identities. However, the investigation remains active to ascertain the precise details surrounding the incident.
The police were able to identify the two missing individuals through the identity documents that survived the submersion. The diver discovered both bodies along with the couple’s personal effects inside the vehicle.
