Wisconsin DQ Puts Up ‘Politically Incorrect’ Sign, Owner Doesn’t Back Down
A sign displayed on the front window of a Dairy Queen restaurant in Kewaskum, Wisconsin, has sparked a debate on social media. The sign prominently showcases traditional holiday greetings such as “Merry Christmas” and “Happy Easter,” along with expressions of gratitude for veterans on Veterans Day.
Kevin Scheunemann, the owner of the restaurant, has defended the sign, stating that it was installed nearly four years ago to openly express his and his staff’s commitment to serving both God and country. The sign was originally put up in response to a customer complaint about the playing of Christian music in the restaurant, and it has not caused any further issues since its installation.
Recently, the sign gained renewed attention when a tourist from Oregon posted a photograph of it on Facebook, prompting discussions regarding its inclusivity. While some individuals have shown support for the message, others have criticized the sharing of the image. Local business owners have expressed their support for Scheunemann’s decision, asserting that customers are free to leave if they find the message objectionable.
The Dairy Queen corporation has stated that Scheunemann’s views do not represent the official stance of the company and emphasizes the importance of treating all customers with respect, regardless of their religious beliefs.
