Our thoughts and prayers go out to Donald Trump and his family for their tragic loss
The distinguished political commentator Lou Dobbs has died at the age of 78. Known for his influential roles at CNN and Fox News, Dobbs was a contentious figure, particularly recognized for his remarks concerning Barack Obama.
In a condolence message posted on Truth Social, former President Donald Trump described Dobbs as “an incredible talent” and a “friend and truly amazing reporter, journalist, and artist.” Trump further noted, “Lou was unique, and he loved our nation.”
Dobbs commenced his career at KBLU radio in Arizona before moving to television in the mid-1970s, where he joined NBC’s King-TV in Seattle. He was one of the inaugural reporters at CNN, launching the business news program Moneyline in 1980.
His exit from CNN in 2009 was driven by controversies surrounding his reporting on illegal immigration. In 2010, he began hosting “Lou Dobbs Tonight” on Fox Business, a position he held until the show’s cancellation in 2021. Fox News Media expressed their condolences, characterizing Dobbs as “an amazing businessman with a gift for broadcasting” and recognizing his substantial impact on cable news. He is survived by his wife, Debi, and their six children.
