The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued alerts concerning severe winter weather that will impact twelve states, including Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Pennsylvania. These conditions are anticipated to create considerable travel hazards due to the accumulation of snow, ice, and strong winds.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from Thursday evening until Saturday morning for areas in East Arkansas, North Mississippi, and other regions. Snow and ice accumulations are expected to reach between 4 to 6 inches. In West Virginia, wind chill temperatures may drop to -15°F, with gusts potentially reaching 50 mph. Travel is especially dangerous on bridges and overpasses.

Residents are urged to delay any non-essential travel, prepare emergency supplies, and stay updated with the latest weather information. The effects of the storm may linger until Saturday morning. To reduce the risk of frostbite or hypothermia, it is essential to implement safety precautions, such as wearing multiple layers of warm clothing.
