The Palisades Fire, which began on January 7, 2025, in Pacific Palisades, has already burned over 1,260 acres and remains uncontrolled, with winds reaching speeds of 60 mph exacerbating the situation. This fire poses a serious threat to surrounding communities, prompting Governor Gavin Newsom to declare a state of emergency. Mandatory evacuation orders have been issued for 15 zones, with evacuation warnings in place for an additional 19 areas. An evacuation center has been set up at the Westwood Recreation Center to support those displaced. Several roads, including the Pacific Coast Highway, are currently closed. Firefighters from CAL FIRE and local agencies are actively working to contain the blaze. Actor Steve Guttenberg has also joined the evacuation efforts, urging residents to keep roads clear for emergency personnel.
