Kirk Cameron has become one of the latest celebrities to depart from California. The actor, known for his role in Growing Pains, made his announcement regarding the move on Wednesday.

Cameron explained that his decision to leave his home state was influenced by his observations of California’s ongoing trajectory, which he perceives as fostering significant division.

The father of six disclosed that he relocated to Tennessee, motivated in part by the presence of three of his adult children in the state, as well as his desire to find a location that promotes a “healthy freedom mindset.”

He expressed his thoughts to the Washington Examiner, stating, “In the event of serious economic challenges and societal division, they wish to be surrounded by individuals who share values centered on God, family, and country. It’s truly a pleasant environment.”

Cameron also noted the surprising number of former Californians residing in Tennessee. “It’s astonishing how many Californians are here. When I encounter them in the grocery store, I often say, ‘Don’t California our Tennessee,’” he humorously remarked.

Similar to his sister, Candace Cameron Bure, many individuals have left California seeking “safety and security.” Cameron believes that despite the influx of former California residents, Tennessee’s “wholesome values and, equally important, good whiskey” render it a more appealing place to reside.
