Jacqueline Bisset, 80, continues to wow audiences with her natural beauty

Jacqueline Bisset, at the age of 80, continues to demonstrate remarkable vitality in a career that has spanned 58 years and encompasses approximately 50 films.

Since my childhood, Jacqueline Bisset has served as a significant role model for me, admired by my parents as well. To me, she epitomizes the glamour that once defined Hollywood.

I have always appreciated her natural approach to aging, believing she possesses an inherent beauty and allure. Her makeup has consistently been minimal.

Throughout her illustrious career, the actress, distinguished by her high cheekbones and captivating green eyes, has showcased her adaptability by portraying a diverse array of characters. These include the alluring Miss Goodthighs in the spy spoof Casino Royale (1967), a devoted mother in Sleepy Time Gal (2001), First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in America’s Prince: The John F. Kennedy Jr. Story (2003), and Anna Karenina in the romantic epic of the same name (1985), where she starred alongside Christopher Reeve.

Bisset made her debut in Roman Polanski’s Cul-de-Sac (1966) and gained prominence in 1968 with a series of notable performances, including Detective alongside Frank Sinatra, Bullitt with Steve McQueen, and her Golden Globe-nominated role in The Sweet Ride with Tony Franciosa and Bob Denver, famously known as Gilligan from Gilligan’s Island.

Her filmography also includes memorable roles in Day for Night (1973), Murder on the Orient Express (1974), The Deep (1977), Wild Orchid (1990), her Golden Globe and Emmy-nominated performance in Joan of Arc (1999), her Golden Globe-winning role in the miniseries Dancing on the Edge (2013), as well as appearances in Miss You Already (2015) and Birds of Paradise (2021).

In 2010, the multilingual actress, fluent in English, French, and Italian, was honored with the Legion of Honor, France’s highest state distinction. In 2023, she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Sedona International Film Festival.

Despite her collaborations with some of Hollywood’s most renowned leading men, Bisset has never entered into matrimony. The captivating actress attracted the attention of Frank Sinatra, and there were whispers of a romance with her Bullitt co-star, the notorious Steve McQueen. However, Bisset, embodying the essence of a refined English lady, remarked that their differences were too significant.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, she reflected on McQueen, stating, “He was undeniably attractive, yet somewhat intimidating. I was very much the Englishwoman, while he represented a hip American persona. His manner of speaking would have driven me to distraction—I was unfamiliar with terms like dude or soul chick!”

Bisset has engaged in long-term relationships with Canadian actor Michael Sarrazin, ballet dancer Alexander Godunov, and actor Vincent Pérez, yet she acknowledges her independence makes her unsuitable for lasting commitments.

In a conversation with the Independent, Bisset remarked, “I have encountered some truly fascinating men throughout my life. They have certainly been a handful. I am often told that I do not gravitate towards easy partners.” She elaborated, “At times, spending time with someone reveals too much information. You begin to notice certain traits—unpleasant habits. You find yourself entangled with these habits, and I question my ability to manage them. I have never experienced tumultuous relationships. I have not parted ways in anger; rather, I have simply exited situations that felt overwhelming.”

Although Bisset, who serves as the godmother to Angelina Jolie, has not garnered attention for scandalous relationships, she recently made headlines after winning a Golden Globe for her role as Lady Cremone in the BBC series Dancing on the Edge.

Her acceptance speech, which was accompanied by music signaling her time was up, was largely filled with heartfelt expressions of gratitude from the then 69-year-old, who had waited 47 years for this recognition since her initial nomination for best newcomer.

Since that time, she has taken on the role of a bold femme fatale in the French thriller The Lodger (2020), and more recently, she featured in the film Loren & Rose (2022). In this film, Bisset portrays the main character, Rose, a renowned actress striving to revive her career, who is constrained by a reputation that depicts her as somewhat eccentric and unreliable.

Russell Brown, the film’s director, noted that Rose is quite different from Bisset in reality. He remarked, “Audiences often believe that Jacqueline embodies her character in the film. However, this is not true—both as an actress and as a person, she is markedly distinct from Rose, and her ability to transform into this role is a testament to her remarkable talent.”

Bisset is a timeless beauty who approaches aging with elegance. During her memorable Golden Globes speech, she stated, “I believe, if you want to look good, you’ve got to forgive everybody. It’s the best beauty treatment.”

She has also expressed that despite having “many complexes” in her youth, she was never inclined to undergo plastic surgery. “I don’t believe it makes you look younger. It makes you different,” Bisset explained.

She is an incredibly honest, beautiful, and generous individual, as well as a talented artist, shining brightly in the realm of celebrity.
