She gave birth to six
It is quite rare for an individual to conceive six children and successfully carry them to term in good health. Janet, who had been aware from a young age that motherhood might not be in her future, never anticipated finding herself among this select group. However, fate had different plans and generously rewarded her for her perseverance, faith, and resilience.
At the age of 24, Janet and her partner married. Shortly thereafter, she received hopeful news from her doctors: there remained a possibility for her to become a mother. In Britain during the 1980s, she and Graham resolved to explore every option available. Unfortunately, after twelve attempts, they had not achieved success.
“Let’s try once more,” they agreed, with the understanding that they would consider adoption if this attempt also failed. A miracle unfolded on the thirteenth try, as Janet, now 31, discovered she was pregnant during her eight-week ultrasound.
Janet felt a surge of anxiety upon noticing the doctor’s astonished expression. The physician exited the room, only to return accompanied by the chief physician and several colleagues. They informed her that she was expecting six children and advised immediate hospitalization.
The couple was left in shock. The medical team indicated that the likelihood of carrying all six babies to term was exceedingly low. Nevertheless, Janet remained composed, holding onto her belief that everything would turn out well.
To increase the chances of survival for the infants, the doctors recommended that Janet remain pregnant until she reached 23 weeks. Despite the intense pain she experienced, Janet was prepared to confront any obstacle in her quest for motherhood. When it became evident that space for the babies was diminishing at 31 weeks, the medical team decided to proceed with a C-section.
On November 18, 1983, seven medical teams were present for the delivery. Janet successfully gave birth to all six infants while under general anesthesia, and remarkably, they were all girls.
