Netflix audiences have been enthralled by a remarkable film based on true events, with many expressing that its unfiltered and poignant narrative left them feeling ‘traumatized.’

Finding the ideal film to watch on Netflix can be quite challenging, particularly without effective strategies to refine your choices. The seemingly endless scrolling can become a daunting task.

A practical solution to this dilemma is to explore Netflix forums or fan communities where viewers exchange their favorite selections and lesser-known treasures. Recently, excitement has been growing around several notable films. One has been described as ‘super intense’ and acclaimed as the ‘best ever,’ while another series continues to captivate audiences even seven years post-release.

Currently, viewers are enthusiastically discussing The Goat Life, a survival-drama film that debuted in March of this year and has rapidly gained popularity.

As per the official Netflix description: “An Indian man seeking work follows a job lead to Saudi Arabia, only to find himself forced to labor without pay as a goat herder in the remote desert.” This film is adapted from the best-selling 2008 Malayalam novel Aadujeevitham, which tells the true story of Najeeb. Notably, the film encountered bans in several Gulf nations before those restrictions were eventually lifted, as reported by TimeLine Daily.

The narrative delves into the challenging life of a Malayali immigrant laborer in the Gulf, portraying a story of resilience, struggle, and survival that has profoundly resonated with Netflix viewers.

The film has evoked strong emotional responses from many and is actively being discussed on platforms such as the popular ‘Netflix Bangers’ Facebook group. One viewer shared their thoughts in the group: “The movie left me traumatized because this kind of situation happens to many foreigners who are deceived into going to Saudi for jobs, only to discover there are no jobs.”

They further explained: “They invest a significant amount of money for a visa, lured by promises of good employment and housing.”

A different member of the group remarked, “This is among the finest… I seldom watch Indian films on Netflix,” while another participant noted, “What an emotional journey.” A further admirer succinctly characterized the film as ‘exceptional,’ encapsulating the overall sentiment expressed by viewers.

Since its release, The Goat Life has garnered extensive critical praise, currently holding an impressive 88% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, thereby affirming its status as an essential viewing experience.

Ganesh Aaglave from FirstPost commended the film, stating: “Sukumaran delivers one of his finest performances as Najeeb in The Goat Life. From his flawless transformation to his expressive eyes, the actor captivates in every scene.” Anupama Chopra of Film Companion also praised the film, asserting: “Despite its challenges, Aadujeevitham is a film that deserves to be seen, particularly on the big screen. It showcases remarkable ambition and artistry. I highly recommend watching the original Malayalam version with subtitles.”
